Wine Steward Charms Handmade by Individuals with Autism at Easter Seals Hitting the Red Carpet

The Wine Steward and Easter Seals Metropolitan Chicago (ESMC) are proud to announce that wine charms handmadeRonnie and Lauren Potter by individuals with Autism will be featured at the 2013 Red Carpet Celebrity Style Lounge in honor of the 85th Academy Award nominees and presenters.

This star-studded event, presented by Secret Room Events, attracts film and television stars.  Celebrity guests will be treated to luxury, beauty, fashion and food items from across the world.  Secret Room Events and ESMC partnered to bring awareness to Autism and showcase The Wine Steward, a wine accessory with Swarovski crystals.

“We are delighted about the opportunity Secret Room Events have provided us to raise awareness about Autism at their ultra exclusive event," said ESMC president and CEO, F. Timothy Muri. "The support of Secret Room Events and The Wine Steward makes it possible for two Easter Seals students to go to Hollywood, to promote the organization and expand our micro-enterprises that help individuals with Autism by providing opportunities for structured employment."

The Wine Steward partnered with ESMC to meet the local company’s production needs in 2011.  A team of 16 Individuals living with Autism hand-create the wine charms at ESMC.  “The details of coordinating my product are complex and Easter Seals has been able to train individuals with Autism to maintain the highest level of craftsmanship,” said WineEaster Seals Students Hit the Red Carpet... Steward owner Marge McConville.  “My business goal was to find a significant assembly team to help meet production demands.  After the project was introduced, we worked with occupational therapists to break down the tedious steps.  We have since turned all manufacturing over toEaster Seals.  The satisfaction and self-esteem of making their own money meets Easter Seals goals of job training and increasing independence. It is simply amazing to see the benefit of providing individuals living with Autism meaningful employment opportunities."
